Products that meet the European Standard for biological degradability EN-13432 are eligible for the seedling logo. Products that carry the seedling logo (also called Bioplastics) can be disposed of as organic waste without any negative consequences for composting and the quality of the compost.  This does not mean that using bioplastics is only useful if these are composted. Due to the high calorific value of bioplastics and their low pollution content, burning bioplastics with energy recovery is an excellent processing alternative. As such Bioplastics are indistinguishable from conventional plastics, the seedling logo helps consumers to recognize these products. The approved products are checked on a regular basis to see whether they comply with the set requirements. Click here to return. |
