Roots Biopack is BRC/IOP certified. In the first place, this certification is aimed at a high standard of hygiene to prevent contamination of the packaging materials. Besides a high standard of hygiene, the traceability of the materials and quality control is also important The BRC/IOP certificate is based on an assessment standard of the British Retail Consortium and the Institute of Packaging. The British Retail Consortium is a cooperative syndicate in which a number of large British Retail organisations are represented. In 1998, this cooperation resulted in a joint assessment standard for suppliers of foodstuffs. In October 2001 a new version, whose roots can be traced back to this standard, was published for the suppliers of packaging materials for foodstuffs. This new version is now known as the BRC-IOP standard. In August 2004, a second version of this standard appeared. Return |
