Roots Biopack packages are compostable in accordance with Din Certco EN-13432. This report confirms the biological degradability of material in waste, soil and water. In addition, the products for the Food industry are FDA approved. The factory and the production process also comply with the strictest requirements. It is not without reason that the factory has all ISO certifications and is BRC and HACCPcertified.

The compostable packaging material is made out of three main components, namely 96% sugarcane dregs (a waste product from the production of sugar), 2.3% water and a compostable mixture. Roots Biopack packaging materials are multifunctional. Because of their excellent product characteristics, the Roots packages can be used for a variety of different purposes. The most important properties of the materials are:

oil and water repellent
acid proof
temperature resistant in the following applications:
- oil 150° C
- water 100° C
- oven 220° C
- freezer -25° C
suitable for microwave, oven and steaming equipment
suitable for top seal, flowpack, Map-packaging and wrapping

These properties ensure the product's broad range of uses. The compostable products are also used in various industries active in both Food and Non-food sectors. Examples of these include the packing of meat, fruit and vegetables, eggs, cheese, food that requires heating, snacks, packed lunches, and mobile telephones, delicate equipment, etc. In addition to the standard assortment, customer-specific options can also be selected and customised printing is also possible through bio-compostable film or foil, for instance.
